Calder: Un effet du japonais

Book Design

Pace Gallery published the catalogue Calder: Un effet du japonais to coincide with the artist’s landmark exhibition, co-presented by Pace and Azabudai Hills Gallery in Tokyo. Working closely with my Creative Director, I contributed to every stage of the publication, including concept development, layout design, and color proofing. I also collaborated with a designer in Japan to simultaneously typeset both the English text and its Japanese translation. By integrating Japanese papers, historic images, and Calder’s own drawings, we highlighted the artist’s love of Japan and its influence on his work. The completed book went on to receive the Gold Award in the Makoto Matsunaga category of Japan’s National Catalog and Printed Matter Exhibition, recognizing its exceptional design and production quality.
